There are many ways to be part of the PFA and volunteer to support your school. Below are brief descriptions of the various positions that a governing board member, chairperson, or general member may become involved. Regardless of holding a position, the PFA alwasy welcomes volunteering for event sign ups, or offering ideas at general meetings. The PFA is a great way to become connected to Red Oak and its families!
To provide leadership to the PFA, governing board, PFA members and its volunteers. Attend monthly district PTO meetings and report at Red Oak PFA meetings. Communicate with school principal to facilitate PFA functions. Support the communication with parents of Red Oak and assist PFA in meeting fundraising goals for annual budget.
Responsible for assisting the President at monthly meetings, school events and planning.
Coordinate, collect, and organize funds collected at registration and other school events. Keep a budget using Quick Books, present monthy financial statements at the PFA meeting. Manage accounts receivable and payable. Organize a committee to plan the next school year budget.
Attend monthly general PFA meetings and take detailed notes for record keeping. Assist with meeting agenda preparation and communication. Maintain annual electronic documentation for compliance with ROES PFA Bylaws. Attend governing board meetings when applicable and take notes for record keeping.
Keep order during the monthly PFA meetings. Recruit and present the slate for the upcoming school year.
Assist Treasurer with organizing funds collected during the year, record deposits as needed and log and notify those responsible to pick up deposits.
Organize and maintain social media platforms with up-to-date information related to PFA activities, events, and announcements. Assist with any website modifications. Work alongside other governing board members to continue growith and presence of PFA on campus.
Responsible for coordinating with individual event coordinators. Liaison between event coordinators, PFA, Red Oak Office and OPUSD.
The hospitality chair is the official host of the PFA and has the responsibility of establishing a friendly, comfortable atmosphere at PFA meetings and events. Works with committee and other chairpersons to organize and set up refreshments, food, and greet attendees.
Responsible for working with PFA President and Student Yearbook Committee to organize school yearbook details. Promote the Yearbook cover art contest, gathering photos from parents and classes for school events, and create page spreads in yearbook program. In addition must work with company to meet deadlines and help with organizing distribution to students/families.
Oversee the Box Tops, School Cents, and other community rebate programs. Assist in keeping all materials up to date and communicating with VP of Communications to advertise current programs.
Responsible for coordinating the design, development, ordering, publicizing, and distribution of Red Oak Spirit Wear at the beginning of the school year.
Organize several restaurant nights out at local establishments. Responsible for publicizing and following up that donations are received by Treasurer.
The EEAC provides a forum in which students, parents, faculty and classified staff of Oak Park Unified School District (OPUSD) can discuss issues and recommend action regarding environmental education and sustainability programs in OPUSD. Responsible for planning and coordinating Walk to School Day, Super Saturday, Earth Week, and recycling programs. Meetings are held once a month at the district office.
